Trail/Park Description:
We were looking for something different and nearby, which is a tall order considering how many years we've hiked this area. Finally Berryessa came to mind. It's only an hour away. It's convoluted ever changing shorelines and watery views make for almost surrealistic landscapes. Plus it's all set among oak woodlands with abundant bird life and some unusual flowers. Near gale force gusts made for a challenging hike at times but were soon forgotten on the sheltered side the island where we enjoyed our lunch overlooking sunny bays dotted with migratory birds.
